We've solved a few word problems that require us to set up inequalities and solve them, but now it's your turn.
Working in partners, write a word problem that will require the reader to set up an inequality and solve. You must use complete sentences, and the word problem needs to be school appropriate.

ReplyDeleteThere was a boiling game. Sam scored 94 and Daniel scored 120, David scored 92 and Nick scored 112. Everybody had a changed to do twice except David. How many points does David has to earn in order to win Daniel.

ReplyDeleteIn math class, Jin got 85, 92, 72, 87, and so the average is 84%. But his goal average is 90%. In order to get 90%, what score does he need to get on the next math test?
ReplyDeleteThere is a zoo in Florida. There are 50 wolves and 28 chicks in a cage. They only had one cage left in the zoo. The zoo keeper wants the chicks alive, not eaten by the wolves. The wolves don't eat species that has a larger population then them. So how many more chicks are needed to out number the wolves to keep the chicks safe?
ReplyDeleteMr. Jobe gave out a slice of pizza to the students that got the questions correct. Jinho got 3 questions correct but, Alexander had 6 questions correct. Jinho hated alexander when he got more slices than him. How many questions does jinho need to get more slices of pizza than Alexander?
ReplyDeleteJoseph got a good score on her test. On the other hand, Joonyon and Annie got a bad score. Annie got 69%, but Annie and Joonyon's score added up together beat Joseph's score. Write and solve an inequality
ReplyDeleteMr. Jobe decided to invade the whole 10,000 solar systems in the universe. However in order to invade the whole 10,000 solar systems, he needs at least the permission of 67,334 planets and he already has 62,310 planets. The problem is, planet Earth and some other planets didn't allow his unnesessary invasion. At least how many more planets does he need to invade the 10,000 solar systems?

His determination for boy's underpants brought him to the plastic surgeon. He told the surgeon that he needed to look younger than 30 years old. But his desiese made him look 5 years older than he really did look like. He told that to the surgeon. If you are the surgeon, how young would you make him look like? To get greater score than Soohyun, what is the maximum score Hannah can get at the second test? Make an inequality to find out Hannah's second score.
