Before turning in your walking and running worksheet, answer the following questions:
1) According to your worksheet, approximately how long (in minutes) would it take you to walk 1 kilometer? Do you believe this is true? Why or why not?
2) Approximately how long (in minutes) would it take you to run 1 kilometer? Do you believe this is true? Why or why not?
3) As you see, setting up proportions can help us solve so many different types of problems by setting smaller ratios equal to larger ones. But what about Question #7? Without comparing your ratios with other groups, do you think there will be a correlation between walk times and leg length measurements? If so, what do you think the correlation is? If not, why do you think there isn't one?

1) According to the worksheet, it would take me 11.33... minutes to walk a kilometer. This maybe true because walking doesn't really make you tired.
ReplyDelete2) It would take me 5 minutes to run one kilometer. This is less true because running makes you tired much faster than walking so it wold actually take me longer to run.
3) I think that the leg length and walk times because the longer legs you have, the farther you can walk with one step so it is connected to the walking time.
1: It would take me 12.08 minutes to walk 1 kilometer. I am pretty sure this is true because you have a fairly consistent rate when you walk, and you shouldn't really slow down.
ReplyDelete2: It would take me 3.66 minutes to run 1 kilometer. This isn't true because I had run my fastest and I would definitely be tired after a little while.
3: I am not so sure if the leg length determines the speed at one runs or walks because if you move your legs fast you it may be faster than a person who has longer legs. But if you run fast and you have long legs, then you'd probably be faster that one who runs fast with short legs.

Without comparing your ratios with other groups, do you think there will be a correlation between walk times and leg length measurements? If so, what do you think the correlation is? If not, why do you think there isn't one?
1) According yo my worksheet, it would approximately take 10.68 minutes to walk 1 kilometer. This can be true because walking wouldn't really make you tiring except when we walk for a really long amount of time.
ReplyDelete2) According to my worksheet it would take me 3.66 minutes to run 1 kilometer. I think this cannot be true because we would sometimes jog while running or also walk a little bit when we are tired. It would not be true if we run for full speed in 3.66 minutes.
3) I think the leg length depends on the speed the person walks or runs because if someone moves their legs faster when they walk or run, you may be faster than someone who has longer legs. But running with long legs and with fast speed will be faster than the one who has short legs.
1.Q: According to your worksheet, approximately how long (in minutes) would it take you to
ReplyDeletewalk 1 kilometer? Do you believe this is true? Why or why not?
A: It would take me to walk approximately 9 3/4 minutes to walk 1 kilometer. I don’t believe
this is true because if I was walking 1 kilometer, I wouldn’t be walking the same pace
continuously in 1 kilometer for 9 3/4 minutes.
2.Q: Approximately how long (in minutes) would it take you to run 1 kilometer? Do you believe
this is true? Why or why not?
A: It would take me to run approximately 4 minutes to run 1 kilometer. I don’t believe this is
true because I won’t be able to run in the same pace in 1 kilometer for 4 minutes.
3. Q: As you see, setting up proportions can help us solve so many different types of problems
by setting smaller ratios equal to larger ones. But what about Question #7? Without
comparing your ratios with other groups, do you think there will be a correlation between
walk times and leg length measurements? If so, what do you think the correlation is? If not,
why do you think there isn't one?
A: I don’t think that there will be a correlation between walk times and leg length
measurements without comparing the ratios with other groups because some people might
be faster than the other, and some people might have long legs so they might be able to go
longer distances.
1) According to the numbers you gave me in lunch class it would take me about 10.41 minutes to walk a kilometer.I believe this is true because I usually walk in a constant pace.
ReplyDelete2) About 3.41 minutes (I'm not that fast) to run a kilometer. I think this is less true because running will make me tired as I progress which will make me slow down.
3) I didn't do question 7 because I was at the hospital that day.
1) According to my worksheet, it would take me 9min. 20sec to walk a kilometer. I believe that this is true because I walk in a constant pace and have no huge difference in each step I take.
ReplyDelete2) According to my worksheet, it would take me 3min. 40sec to run a kilometer. I believe that this is not true because running will make me slow down as the time goes on and unlike walking, I can't predict if I will have the constant pace running.
3) I don't think that there is correlation because
there can be some people who are faster than others, and people that are just slow. I believe that it matters on how you move your leg, fast or slow.
1) According to my worksheet, it took me 12.04 min to walk. I believe that this is not true because sometimes your pace will change as you walk more.
ReplyDelete2) According to my worksheet, it took me 4.21 min to run. I believe that this is not true because you will get tired and you speed will decrease as you run more
3) No, the leg length doesn't because in order to run fast, you have to be athletic and also you have to move your leg faster.
1) According to your worksheet, approximately how long (in minutes) would it take you to walk 1 kilometer? Do you believe this is true? Why or why not?
ReplyDeleteAccording to my worksheet, It would take me about 10 minutes to walk a km. I think this can not be true because as I run the km., I would get tired and my speed would change.
2) Approximately how long (in minutes) would it take you to run 1 kilometer? Do you believe this is true? Why or why not?
It would take me about 5 minutes to run a km. I don't think that it is true because I would get tired as I run the 1 km.
I think that the leg length doesn't matter because everyone is different. A marathon runner could run faster than most people and last that long too. But regular people can't do that because they didn't get enough practice for that (unless you're born like a marathon runner.)
1) According to your worksheet, it would take about 9minutes and 42seconds. I think this can be true because I walk in a constant pace.
ReplyDelete2) It would take me about 3minutes and 92seconds to run 1km. I think this is not true because if I run, I will be tired and slow down.
3) I don't think that there is correlation because people have different leg length. Also, everybody have different speed which means that some people are faster than others and some are slower than others.
1) According to my worksheet, I would probably take around 10 minutes and 58 seconds in one kilometer. I do believe that this is true, because I think walking in a constant speed may be a possible thing which I may do.
ReplyDelete2) According to my worksheet, it says that I will run one kilometer in 4 minutes and 23 seconds. I do not believe that this is true, because running in a constant pace for a kilometer would be a very hard thing to do. I would probably be very tired of running by the end and my speed would slow down.
3) I don't think there is a correlation between the leg length and the walking time. I think this, because even though you have a short leg, the faster you move those legs, you can be faster than a person who has a longer legs than the person who has a short leg.
1) According to my worksheet, it is going to take about 9.68 minutes to walk a kilometer. I think this is fairly true, although it may not be exactly right, because walking does not take much energy to do.
ReplyDelete2) According to my calculations, it is going to take me 3.58 minutes to run a kilometer. But this is really wrong because I get tired very easily (no stamina) and I would probably slow down in the middle.
3) No, I do not think that there will be a correlation between walk times and leg length measurements because the although people with longer legs might tend to go farther in a short period of time, it's the length of the stride that counts.
1. According to my worksheet, it would take me about 15 minutes 58 seconds. This is true because you can walk for a very long time and not get tired making your pace to no slow down or speed up.
ReplyDelete2. According to my worksheet, It would take me 4 minutes and 30 seconds to run a kilometer. This isn't true because you can get tired easily and get out of breath causing the speed to decrease.
3. I don't think there is a correlation between the walking time and the leg length because people who have longer legs may take slower paces, but longer strides, but people with short legs may walk quickly then the speed may become the same.
1. According to my worksheet, about 680 seconds, which is 11 minutes and 20 seconds would take to walk 1 kilometer. I believe this is wrong, because I could get tired in the middle and slow down.
ReplyDelete2. About 335 seconds, which is 5 minutes and 35 seconds would take me to run a kilometer. I think this isn't true because I can get tired in the middle of running and rest.
3. I don't think there is a correlation to the walk times and leg length, because people shorter then me and people longer then me both ran faster.
1.) It would take me 585s (10 minutes and 15s) for me to walk 1 kilometer. I think this is somewhat true, because if you don't get tired in the middle and keep going, then it could be true.
ReplyDelete2.) It would take me 315s (5 minutes and 25s) to run 1 kilometer. I think this could be true, because if it took me 10 min. and 15s to walk 1 kilometer, then I could probably take 5 minutes and 25s to run 1 kilometer.
3.) I don't think there is a correlation, because short people can run faster than longer people. Your leg lengths don't matter to how fast you can run.
1.) According to the worksheet, it will take me approximately 15 minutes to walk one kilometer. This may be true because you might not get tired when you walk a kilometer and walk in the same rate.
ReplyDelete2.)According to the worksheet, it will take me approximately 4 minutes to run 1 kilometer. I don't think this will be true because you will get tired after you run about half a kilometer and will need time to slow down.
3.)I think there is correlation between the length of your leg and the speed which you walk in, because, the longer your legs are, the longer you can reach out when you walk.
1) It would take me 10 minutes to walk a kilometer. I believe this would be true, because walking- you can do forever if you want. It doesn't use a whole lot of your energy.
ReplyDelete2) It would take me 3.83 minutes to run a kilometer. Woah, that's not true. Unless I'm a marathon runner, the 3.83 minutes won't be possible since I would eventually get tired off.
3) I think the correlation between the length of your legs don't really effect the speed at all. People with long legs were faster, and some were slower. It all depends on what person, what kind of runner they are.
1) It takes about 25 minutes. I think this is true because I don't use a lot of energy in walking so I can keep this pace.
ReplyDelete2) It takes me about 4 minutes. But I think this is not true because I can't keep my pace steady in running.
3) I think there is a correlation because if you have a greater length of foot, then you can walk a greater distance in one step than someone who has a shorter length of foot than you.
#1 According to my worksheet, approximately it will take about 9 minutes (550 seconds) to walk 1 kilometer. I don't believe this is true because this is only guessing and if I get tired of walking, I can stop by.
ReplyDelete#2 Approximately it will take about 4 minutes (220 seconds)to run 1 kilometer. I don't think this is true like I said at first, because I have to rest. Unlike walking, running takes more energy so I think this will take lots of time.
#3 I think there won't be a correlation between walk times and leg length measurements because time and leg length doesn't really matter. Some people who have short legs can walk or run in slow or fast than people who have long legs. So, I think they don't have any relationship or correlation.
