Look over the lessons in Chapter 4. Why do you think the editors of this textbook put all of this material together in one chapter? What connects all of the lessons? Are there any lessons in Chapter 4 that do not fit in the chapter? Also, do you think other lessons could be added to this chapter? If so, which ones, and why? If not, why not?
(Yes, there are many questions to answer here. You will be graded on your ability to produce well-reasoned answers.)

I think the editors put all of this material together in one chapter because all of the lessons relate such as the exponents. The exponents are used in the GCF, LCM, scientific notation, and negative exponents. I think that the GCF and LCM should be taken out from the lesson because you don't need it to evaluate the answers for the negative exponent and scientific notation. What should have been added is the exponents.
ReplyDeleteI think the editors put those lessons together because they are all related to prime factorization; you need to use prime factorization in order to find the answer to those problems. However I think scientific notation and the rules of exponents does not fit to this chapter, because it isn't really related to other lessons. I think other lessons could be added such as finding the LCM and GCF by the Korean way, because it is faster and easier than finding each number's prime factor.
ReplyDeleteThe editors of this textbook put all of this material together in one chapter because all of them are connected. The lessons are talking about the factors and exponents. I think simplifying fraction does not fit to this chapter.
ReplyDeleteI think that the editors of this textbook put of this material into one chapter, because prime factorization has to do with them. It involves exponents and such too. I don't think that scientific notation should be in this chapter, because it does not have anything to do with fractions or prime factorization. I don't really think there is any other lesson that should have been added, because GCF, LCM, and simplifying fractions are all common.
ReplyDeleteI think the editors put these lessons together because they are related to prime factorization. I don't think anymore lessons should be added to this chapter because I don't know any more topics related to prime factorization and factors. I don't think that the scientific notations and the powers should be in this chapter because they are way different from prime factorization and factors.
ReplyDeleteI think that the editors of this textbook put this material together in one chapter because it is related to exponents and finding the GCF, GCM, And LCD. I think that the least to greatest (putting the factors in order) doesn't fit in this chapter because that's the only chapter that relates to factors. I think that the chapter could use the multiplying decimals section in this chapter.
ReplyDeleteThe editors put all of this material in one chapter because all of them are related to each other. Also it is easier to study in this way because it is all connected. This chapter all has exponents and some fraction I think we don't need simplifying fraction because simplifying fraction is different from GCF,LCD ....
ReplyDeleteI would say prime factorization. Prime factorization basically helped all the lessons in this chapter easy to learn and understand. I could realize why the editors put all these different, but not different, lessons together for chapter 4. The lessons such as simplifying fractions, finding the GCF, LCM, or even the LCD all uses the prime factorization of the numbers. However, the section of using the scientific notation doesn't perfectly fit in this chapter, where it talks about prime factorizations and it suddenly starts on scientific notations. In my opinion, some other lessons such as the lesson about finding multiples for your numbers on the previous chapters. I mean, some other basic lessons might help the students a bit more, too. Overall, the whole chapter was linked by the prime factorization of numbers, being a very important role in mathematics.
ReplyDeleteI think that the editors put it together because it is all related to each other. For example, you need to know the prime factorization of numbers to find the LCM or GCF. Also you need to know how to factor in order to learn the concept of prime factorization. To write out LCM, you need to know how to use powers. If these are not in the same chapter, then it would be hard to understand some concepts and some ways to solve things. The thing that connects the lesson is that you need to know the first lesson to understand the second lesson. So if you skip any lessons, it would be hard to understand. You need to use what you learned in the first lesson to solve questions in the second lesson. In other words, these lessons are connected because you need to know one to know the other. I think that this lesson is perfect, it doesn't need anything out or in. It is normal for a typical person to think that negative exponents won't fit in this lesson. But what I think is that since you'll learn normal exponents in chapter 4, it would be easier to learn the negative exponents right away than learning it in chapter 10 when you forgot the concept about exponents.
ReplyDeleteI think that they all put the material together because all the material has a connection. You need to know the prime factorization to know the LCM and GCF and also to simplify fractions. All of them relate to each other. And also, if they put those things in a different chapter, you'd forget all the other things that allow you to solve the other thing. Nothing is really out of topic in chapter 4. They put it together just to not forget the concepts.
ReplyDeleteI think the editors put it together because they all have a little bit of GCF,LCD,LCM and prime factorization. I think it covers everything so no need to add lessons. I think that Scientific Notation should be there because it doesn't use any of the methods the other lessons use.
ReplyDeleteI think that the editor of this textbook put all of this material in one chapter because all the material relates to each other somehow, like prime factorization helps to solve for GCF and LCD. Exponents helps to solve for factoring, finding GCF and LCD for monomials. I think scientific notations do not fit good in this chapter because it's not related to other materials in this chapter. Also, I think a factor tree and something that involves exponents should be in this chapter because it's related to every other materials in this chapter.
ReplyDeleteI think that the editor of ths textbook put all of this material in one chapter because they are all connected. This chapter is related to prime factorization and it helps to slove the LCM and GCF. I think scientific notations doesn't fit in this chapter because scientific notation isn't related to other sections in this chapter.
ReplyDeleteI think the editor of this textbook put all of this material in one chapter because they are related. This is because to find the prime factorization of a number you can get the LCM and the GCF. A thing that fits in this lesson is that you will have to know all of the lessons order by order. Not just to lesson 2 to lesson 1 to lesson 4 and in random orders. The prime factorization, GCF, and LCM let's us go with the flow of the chapter. A thing that does not fit in this chapter is the scientific notation. I think this is because it does not really relate to the other lessons.
ReplyDeleteI think that the editor of this textbook put all of this material in one chapter because they all need to go through a prime factorization and so they are related. In here, we use prime factorization to find different things, such as LCM, GCF, and etc. I believe that all of this sections in chapter 4 are related and needs to be together in a chapter. I don't think that there is anything to add in the chapter because the prime factorization of factors are only these. For example, there are lot's of problems that requires the prime factorization. However, these sections in chapter4 is focused on the fraction and I think that is very organized.
ReplyDeleteI think the editors put all of these sections together because most of the sections all relate to each other. The part with the LCM,GCF,Factors and Prime Factorization, etc. The connections between these sections are that they all lead to a fraction.
ReplyDeleteThe part which does not fit in this chapter is about the Negative and Zero Exponents. I think that because I don't really think it related to LCM,GCF, etc.
Maybe multiplying, adding, subtracting, dividing fractions may be in this chapter, because in this chapter, it talks about fractions.
The editors of this text book put in materials like this because all the things that we learn in this chapter all relate to each other such as the LCD and the GCF. The connection of all the things is that it has to do with dividing the numbers. I don't think that there should be something to be added to this chapter because it teaches us everything we have to know.
ReplyDeleteI think editors made the things inside to make a relationship with the LCD, GCF, and the Prime Factorization. We would have to look at the chapter for the things we have to know.
